What is Tea Time, exactly?

Tea Time is where five-ish strangers sit at a cafe with a Host to have a two hour conversation. It's not about anything in particular.

You're meant to know pretty much nothing about the people that come, aside from the fact that they all signed up for this — just like you. It's self-selecting in that sense.

However, it may bring you comfort to know a little something about your Host. If so, just keep reading

Meet your Host, Liz.

(It'll be helpful to know what they look like when you're looking for a group of confused strangers at the cafe.)

Remember when your mom or dad told you not to talk to strangers? Let’s forget that for the next 2 hours. Life is too short to be stuck having small talk. We all have stories to tell and life experiences, so put on your “Yes, and…” hat and let’s learn about the world through each other over tea!

What's your story?

I’m a California native currently in San Francisco. Previously, I enjoyed the sunny SoCal, the fast pace of Hong Kong, and the seasonal weather in Boston.

I live life with an optimistically pragmatic attitude. I’m great at parallel parking. I can listen to the same song on repeat and never get tired of it (including Celtic music). I once wanted to be a professional skateboarder. I watch more TV than I should. I have an Ewok stuffed animal and an unhealthy love for corgis...and croutons.

But most importantly, I love getting past small talk and asking why.

What might we talk about?

Needs versus wants. Formative life experiences. Values. Your motivation for hobbies. Why you’re in SF. Social media. Mother Nature and our role in her world. What strong relationships (romantic and platonic) are built upon. Why FOMO is even a thing. The last time you were happy. The common thread between us all. Really, anything and everything.

Good conversation is as much about talking as it is listening. Everyone has a story to tell - so let’s get to it!

You don’t have to do a damn thing in life, as long as you’re willing to live with the consequences.
