What is Tea Time, exactly?

🍵

Tea Time is where five-ish strangers sit at a cafe with a Host to have a two hour conversation. It's not about anything in particular.

You're meant to know pretty much nothing about the people that come, aside from the fact that they all signed up for this — just like you. It's self-selecting in that sense.

However, it may bring you comfort to know a little something about your Host. If so, just keep reading

Meet your Host, Beverly.

(It'll be helpful to know what they look like when you're looking for a group of confused strangers at the cafe.)

Berlin sometimes feels like a city where people walk past each other, hurrying off to one of the hundred events happening that evening. Having meaningful, genuine conversations is sparse and at best, coincidental. I want to create the space for people to intentionally connect, share, inspire, and be inspired.

Let's do this together, shall we?

What's your story?

Do you know this tingly feeling of awe and smallness that melts over you when you hike to the top of a cliff and look out to an expanse of sea and sky? Or the moment when you have a realization that completely changes your mind about a long-held belief? Or when you meet someone for coffee and 1 hour turns into 6? I unabashedly love moments like these - heart-wrenching, head-spinning, tongue-twisting moments. I'm in love with moments in general, really. I'd like to think of my life as a long quest to find them, create them, learn from them, savor them.

I’m a believer in challenging myself and others, in constant growth and learning, in exploration and experimentation, in reflection and change. These beliefs have led me through twists and turns in my life -- professionally, personally, geographically, and spiritually.

What might we talk about?

What we'll talk about will be wide-ranging, from sharing embarrassing stories to thoughts from the heart.

Some of my favorite questions: how do you make hard decisions? How do you know when you have learned something? What are you in pursuit of? What is something about yourself that you celebrate?

Let’s talk about uncertainty, breaking social norms, the power of mindfulness, being contradictory, the magical learnings from travel, falling in and out of love, and embracing differences. I want to hear about the last moment that took you by surprise, about the last dream you had, about your most formative childhood experiences, about the first thought you have when you wake up.

Let's live to not just survive, but thrive!
